Current Research
The research takes an integrative, interdisciplinary approach to the study of ecological and social systems. Through examining cetacean ecology, oceanic variables and whale watching tourism, possible impacts of climate change upon these inter-relationships will be predicted. The study will generate a model of unsustainable/sustainable outcomes, and how these may be best mitigated against/implemented by the tourism industry.
The overall research aim is to establish possible changes to cetacean distribution as a consequence of climate change, the likely implications of this for sustainability of the whale watching industry in Western Scotland and the relevance of these findings to whale watching on a global scale.
